The renowned violinist Detlef Hahn, professor at the Royal College of Music in London, returns for another of his much in demand masterclass series at the Künstlerhaus Boswil. The course encompasses the solo, concerto and sonata repertoire. Individual lessons and performance classes (with piano) are held on a daily basis. The course concludes with a public concert in our legendary Alte Kirche Boswil.
Detlef Hahn has an international reputation as a teacher, with an impressive list of successful students in the profession. He receives regular invitations to give masterclasses worldwide, teaching at prestigious venues such as Astona International, Kunstlerhaus Boswil, Valdres Festival, and many others. In 2001 he was elected guest professor at the State Academy, Oslo, a position he holds to the present day, and in 2012, he accepted an invitation to become professor at the Royal College of Music, London.
Detlef Hahn has produced many publications, collaborating with eminent musicologists and musicians such as Jonathan Del Mar and Andrew Manze. In 2009, he edited the solo violin part for the Bärenreiter Edition of the Beethoven Violin Concerto, and the two Beethoven Romances. Detlef also edits for the Wieniawski Musical Society, Poland. He is currently in the process of writing his book: Performing Beethoven’s Violin Concerto. A Guide to a historically informed performance on the modern violin.
Course location and duration
Künstlerhaus Boswil, Sunday, 5 September from 4.00 pm, group dinner at 6.00 pm (arrival) to Saturday, 11 September, after breakfast (departure).
The course takes part from Monday, 6 September to Friday, 10 September 2021, after the closing concert.
The course language is German and English.
