Conducting Masterclass

The conducting masterclass is designed for advanced students of conducting and for young conductors who have concluded their professional training, wishing to extend their knowledge and experience in conducting and the interpretation of works of the symphonic repertoire under the expert guidance of internationally renowned Maestro Douglas Bostock.

On the first two days professional accompanists (two pianos) will play for the class (4×3 hours). And for the three days the argovia philharmonic will play (4×3 hours). The masterclass will concluded with a final rehearsal (3 hours) and a public concert with the argovia philharmonic concucted by masterclass students.

 

 

Direction

The British conductor Douglas Bostock is Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of the internationally acclaimed Southwest German Chamber Orchestra (since 2019) and Honorary Conductor of the Argovia Philharmonic in Switzerland.

Douglas Bostock is renowned internationally as a teacher of conducting. He has been Guest Professor in the conducting and opera departments at Tokyo University of the Arts, where he has a long-standing relationship. His conducting master classes in many countries are widely acclaimed and enjoy great popularity. Furthermore, keenly embracing the challenge of working with young musicians, he is frequently invited to conduct at conservatoires in Europe and Asia, and is Visiting Professor at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music in Japan.

Course location and duration

Künstlerhaus Boswil
The course takes part from Monday, 23 November to Friday, 27 November 2020, after the closing concert.
The course language is English.

Fees and registration

Active participants
CHF 980.– for teaching, full board and lodging for five days at Künstlerhaus Boswil (includes a non-refundable CHF 200.– registration fee).

Additional night: CHF 65.–

Auditors
CHF 70.– per day or CHF 250.– for the complete course (including lunch at the Künstlerhaus)

Fees may be paid either in advance or on the day of attendance.
